Stanová Antonie *1995
Untitled, 2021
mixed media, canvas, 180 × 130 cm
The painting work of Antonia Stanová, an artist of the emerging generation,
oscillates between a figurative and abstract position, characterized by
the treatment of the picture surface as a space for recording gestures,
graphic elements, splashes of colour, imprints, pictograms and signs or
fragments of the human body. Seemingly random and loosely sketched records
are reminiscent of the character of a fragmentary diary, with which they are also linked by the loose
connections or references to the text, although their meaning is more poetic
and non-literary. In the last paintings there is a clear shift towards a more abstract
expression, in which splashes of colour, impressions and records form traces of events
and associations.
