Vladimír Drápal (1921-2015) graduated in 1938-1942 from the of Arts and Crafts in Brno and in 1945-1949 at the University of in the studio of Josef Kaplický in Prague. From the 1960s he worked as a teacher at what is now the Brno Masaryk University in Brno, where he educated a number of prominent artists personalities. From 1958 he was a member of the Brno creative group Profil and from 1990 member of the Q Brno Association. He created a number of sculptural realizations to public space, such as Venus (1982) in Brno's Anthropos Park. and many others. His work is represented, among others, in the collections of the Moravian Gallery, the Brno City Museum, the National Gallery in Prague and is in the collections of many European galleries. For his lifelong artistic He has been repeatedly awarded the Brno City Prize for his lifetime artistic and teaching career, in 2011 he was awarded the Prize of the South Moravian Region and the Artis Medal.
