The porcelain factory, most commonly referred to as "Amphora", was founded in 1892 by Alfred Stellmacher, later partners were E. Stellmacher and R. Kessel. The most famous productions were made during the Art Nouveau period. The company received a number of important awards and recognitions, e.g. In 1893, it won the State Prize at the Chicago World's Fair and the Gold Medal from Paris in 1889.
