Untitled, 1969
serigraphy, 13/15, paper, frame, glass, 42 × 29,5 cm, signed bottom right D. Chatrný 69
Graphic design was one of the many
mediums that Dalibor Chatrný has been involved in for a long time
devoted to, and applied in it, similarly
as in other areas, creative approaches
and experiments that went beyond the commonly used
methods. Especially in the 1960s
1960s Chatrný tried various shifts
in printmaking, such as perforation or the use of
a new technology, screen printing, which offered
new possibilities of working with the de-skinned
author's handwriting, creating large
and new printing processes.
A technique that became a means of
to express new artistic tendencies
of pop art and op art, Chatrný used the black
screen prints with white negative
dots in 1968-69. Geometric composition
of dots arranged according to a certain scheme
and construction corresponded to the nature of screen printing
with the possibility of following a certain
selected and controlled system.
