Mask of BAMBAKA Tribe

Mali, Bambara tribe (Ségou area), 2nd half of 20th century, wood, organic pigments, textile, beads, "tji-wara" mask in shape of male antelope, h. 82 cm,

in good condition - small chracks and  scratches, restoration in back area

Provenance: Traore Ibraham (USA).

This type of masks is used during sowing's ritual dances to assure bigger harvest.
