Sedláková Vladimíra *1952
From the series Structures and Roughness, 1994 - 2 pcs
mixed media, paper, 63 × 48,4 cm, both pieces
signed on the reverse in pencil by Vladimíra Sedláková'
Vladimíra Sedláková not only in terms of her opinions and intensity
of her work, but also (rare in the young generation) in the area of
geometric art. Her starting point was distinctive and gradually
showed how it was a carrier - the world of technical drawings and graphs, formalized
language that referred to the reality of the factory environment and yet was able to function
itself... The artist first cited specific identifiable
information" while at the same time isolating it as a kind of compositional quality, later selecting and layering details as they emerge
in human memory. The subtlety of ink and pencil lines on black or
white surface of paper or canvas confirmed that for Sedláková it remained
the aesthetic quality of the result, that she understood the artwork as
aesthetic actualization of that language which usually serves the utilitarian
communication in the environment where it is researched, designed and realised. Consistent
work with geometric elements with an obvious emphasis on purely artistic
relations in the picture surface allowed the artist's work to be classified in the sphere of
constructive art, elements that she derived from the technical sphere,
even brought her works visually closer to intuitively working classical
Constructivists, known from the interwar avant-gardes; a clear relation to the
the world of technology and especially its two-dimensional representation guaranteed
the artist's unmistakability and originality. Jiří Valoch together"
