Matasová Adéla *1940
Divided Wings, 1969
Plaster, acronex, wood, 100 × 135 cm
The beginning of independent creation here is precisely determined by the sixty-fifth year;
Adéla Matasová draws on the possibilities offered by the main issues
of the immediately preceding generational layer - symbolically directed expression
of painterly self-images. However, she is also receptive to the changes of opinion that
already transcend the ideological foundations of the abstract program and open the way
to malleable and thematically deviant variants. Adéla Matasová was closest to
fantasy semifiguration: a sign half autonomous, half imitative. In her
conception, this ambivalent conception first took the form of organic
labyrinths and bizarre anatomies, imaginary landscapes from the realm of physiological
tissues and plant tissues. The first distinctive features of the work appear here, defining
the circle of interests, the theme is established, the meaning of the work is thought out.
