Karel Souček, member of Group 42 and later professor of painting at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts, in the 1940s, at the time of the the group's existence, he focused mainly on themes related to everyday urban life, but also scientific discoveries, the theatre and hospitals. In his paintings, which showed a strong social feeling, he was able to the atmosphere of streets, vending machines, arcades, tailor shops or hairdressing salons.
