I often turn to myths for the impulses of my work. Mediterranean, Greek, Old Testament, Cretan. There's experience in them, wisdom that we can project into the present. I have not yet found the key to the Czech, Slavic myths. I guess I missed the Mediterranean. I've just been re-reading Cosmas' Bohemian Chronicle. How many references there are to ancient mythology, ancient culture. Maybe the Celts brought it here, to the wooded and damp central Europe. They lived alongside Rome, competed with it, were inspired by it, succumbed to it. Olbram Zoubek, 2007
