Johann Adalbert Angermayer is one of leading figures in painting of composed still life in the Central Europe.. He was student of Swiss painter Johan Rudolf Byse. He worked in Prague where he soon became a favourite painter of local nobility. His works can be roughly divided into hunting, kitchen, allegoric and floral still lifes. These works were often created as pair paintings. Still Life With Fruit and Roemer was panited circa in 1730 and thus represents Angermayer’s late work. This work stands out due to its distinctive style and sense of detail in the shapes and colours. This painting is significant not only due to the fact that it is well preserved but also as a top work of a painter who is represented in leading national and world collections.
