JAN KALÁB Jan Kaláb's current painting work builds on his previous experience in graffiti, street art and murals, with which he established himself on the international street art scene. As in graffiti, Kaláb has created his own brand in painting, which makes him easily recognizable. The shapes of the paintings are based on the circle, deformed and bent into organic ovoids. The shape deformation of the paintings is enhanced by the pop art-like glowing, abstract surface painting with op art effects, especially the illusion of space and the play with visual perception. The paintings on the borderline of design appeal with their distinct visuality, emphasizing the aesthetic qualities of the work without any other connotations of content. Jan Kaláb's paintings are in demand and sought after by collectors on the contemporary international art scene. Jan Kaláb (b. 1978) has been working with graffiti since 1993, throughout Europe and a short stay in New York. He is the author and discoverer of 3D graffiti. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in 2006.
