Bohumír Dvorský is one of the most prominent personalities who depicted the Czech landscape, at the same time he was also a prolific painter of still lifes and flowers. In his work he was influenced by Paul Cézanne and Julius Mařák. Dvorský's colour palette, which initially consisted of cold tones, changed under the influence of the landscapes of southern Moravia, where he took refuge during the war in St. Kopeček near Olomouc, to a palette of warm tones to exultant yellow and red colours.
